Yap - Oppus team shapes up

City Councilors John Geesnell “Baba” Yap and Anne Mariquit Oppus is set to formally announce their bid for mayor and vice mayor of Tagbilaran City, including a complete slate for the city council.

A spokesman of Team Baba-Kit confirmed that both Yap and Oppus have decided to join the fray for the City Hall leadership in 2013, with or without the endorsement of major political parties.

According to the spokesman, Oppus has accepted Yap’s invitation to run as his vice mayor.

“The group will make the formal announcement very soon although we are already building our political base in all 15 barangays of the city,” the source said.

Team Baba-Kit likewise confirmed several of its bets for city councilor which includes, incumbent City Councilor Bebiano Inting, former congressman Adam Relson Jala, Joseph Bompat (son of City Councilor Edgar Bompat), Barangay Cogon Kagawad Jerry Pabe, Poblacion 2 Barangay Kagawad Dr. Allan Ricardo Real, Poblacion 3 Kagawad Salome Vitorillo, former Cogon kagawad Charles Cabalit, Tim Butalid and Eliezer Borja (brother of Councilor Edi Borja).

The team spokesman added that talks are ongoing with other aspirants for city councilor to fill the remaining slots in their ticket.

With several incumbent barangay captains and barangay kagawads already backing the candidacies of Yap and Oppus, the group aims to include a “public service oriented slate”.
